Feldspar is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal aluminosilicate mineral including potassium, sodium and calcium, which becomes a feldspar group mineral. Feldspar is one of the most widely distributed rock-forming minerals, accounting for about 60% of the composition of the crust minerals. In the industrial fields such as ceramics and glass, potassium feldspar (KAlSi3O8), albite (NaAlSi3O8) and nepheline syenite (KNa3(AlSiO4)4) are most commonly used.
The potassium and sodium feldspar currently used in China are mainly produced from pegmatite. Pegmatite veins with low iron content, low mica, high potassium feldspar or albite are usually selected for processing. The mined ore is usually not for beneficiation, only with magnetic separation added to the crushing stage. Most manufacturers use magnetic rods to remove the magnetic iron mixed in the ore crushing process.
